Research

Primary aims to publish political analysis at least once per week, but these may increase in frequency during important election cycles. These notes and ‘Spotlights’ generally comprise in-depth, in-house sourced analysis, often including specialist guest commentary and interviews. We also publish incisive summaries of our events and calls.

Our research previews and follows up on elections, assessing the moves and fortunes of key figures and political parties, tracking the development of policies and voter priorities and exploring polling and other data points, notably the evolution of larger and longer-term electoral trends.

While the main theme of our research is understandably British politics, we publish recurrently on a combination of American and European geopolitics and current affairs. When pertinent, we also produce notes on the domestic political situation in other countries (for example, Argentina, Australia and Canada). We also provide regular updates on key themes developing in China, the Far East and the Middle East.

More broadly, Primary has periodically offered bespoke analysis and commentary on subjects which intersect with political trends. These are usually anchored in technological disruption, but also incorporate elements directly related to healthcare and innovation in security, particularly since the commencement of the war in Ukraine. A number of these bespoke reports have been commissioned to support marketing for UK scale-up ventures seeking external investment.
